I've been on a self-imposed hiatus from...well, everything. If I haven't responded to your emails, tweets & smoke signals, please know that I will get to it soon. It's not personal, I just needed a break. I hope to have more regular blog posts this month, including what I've been doing (and not doing) and why I haven't been posting. Including the ride report from the Total 200 ride. So, yes, it will be a bit angsty. Sorry. Some people like that sort of thing. Pretend its livejournal. Or skip it. Whatever. I'm ok with it. I'm still working on that post, so don't worry about it yet.
Before I get to all that, I've been asked to let #BikeDC know about DC Bike Party. I know you all like bikes, and I strongly suspect you like to party, so I'm sure that DC Bike Party is something that would appeal to you.
What is DC Bike Party? It's a once a month ride around DC with various pit stops at local bars (note: please drink responsibly! Ride responsibly!). It's not a race. It's not a competition. It's simply a bike ride with friends.
The inaugural ride was last month, but unfortunately I missed it due to my work schedule so I can't personally attest as to how much fun it was. I have seen the facebook photos & twitter postings, and it sure *seems* like everyone had a good time. A fantastic time, actually.
If you've ever done any of BicycleSPACE's Eye Street/7th St. Social Rides (what I like to call the "Wooo" rides since you pretty much ride around at night shouting "Wooo" at random people), it sounds very similar. Good music, good people & good riding. Except instead of popsicles, you get beer. The Social Rides are still ongoing, by the way, so make sure you join one!
This month's ride will be in one week--next Wednesday the 8th at 7:30pm. It starts off at the Smithsonian metro stop and will conclude at Wonderland Ballroom (11th & Kenyon St. NW). There will be a pit stop at 51st State at 2521 L St. NW in between.
You can check out DC Bike Party's website, or Facebook page. You can also follow them on twitter, @DCBikeParty.
Unfortunately, I won't be attending this month's ride either, but I will be there in spirit!
